Beauty in Nature

Things are often a lot more complicated than they first appear. Today we have so many amazing and powerful imaging techniques like SEM and AFM, but with just a microscope lens, a camera and a lot of patience and dedication, you can achieve some truly amazing high-resolution images. This is what Levon Biss, a professional British photographer, has done in collaboration with the Natural History Museum in Oxford. It might be hard to believe at first, but all of his incredible images were taken under visible light, and so the vibrant colours you see are the real colours of the insects! You might not be a fan of these creepy crawlies, but it would be difficult not to appreciate the beauty of these portraits.

Luckily this special 'Microsculpture' exhibition at the Natural History Museum has been extended until the end of January. Do check it out before they disappear!
